We were not allowed to get any closer than about 100 yards. The little Q did not do too badly at that range.

Pretty good shot. 100 yards is kind of restrictive even for a state park. Our park only buoys off the nesting area for one of the pairs (only distance restriction I'm aware of here...). One of the eagles likes to fly a few feet above the dock where I fish and hang out in a nearby tree. That 100 yard rule would make me have to move from my fishing spot a lot of times if we had it here. The Q definitely did a great job.
