Silly Dad + Content Baby = Big Grin
Posted By: cputeq, 06-07-2008, 06:42 AM

Finally got the little guy to smile when my big camera is in his face

Also, I posted this in the Post Processing forum -- but I used a Lightroom Clarity value of -50 to soften the photo slightly -- try it out, it's pretty nice!

A wonderful photo! Great that your son is getting used to the camera - he'll probably wan't his own Pentax pretty soon!

Yes, that's a real cute shot, frame it and keep it as a reminder of a cherished moment. What do you think he was thinking?

It's interesting, as parents, how we read things into the expressions in young baby photos that can't possibly be there. I'm amazed sometimes by the looks I see on baby faces. They're so young that they probably can't focus far at all (only a few inches away) and are more interested in hearing the sound of their mother's voice and smelling and tasting her milk.

As an illustration of misreading expressions, here's two shots taken of my first son in Nov 1997. He was 12 days old and had just come out of the Intensive Care Unit. The photos were taken on a very early digital camera, a 256 kilo-pixel Epson PC640 (640x480). I've always thought of the looks in them as quizzical, wise, even penetrating, which of course is impossible in a young baby.

Adorable! I don't think babies need to understand why they feel good. He knows his daddy (who I'm sure was making lots of gurgling, goo goo noises ) will keep him safe and sound.
