If your not sure about primes and have the kit lens I would highly recommend the DA 50 1.8. You will have a blast learning to use a prime lens with this one. I have a hard time disengaging this one from my camera now. I got the DA 50 1.8 bundled with a K5iis for $100 a few months ago. The lens can be stolen at a regular prices of $150 and sometimes on sale for under $130.

These were taken at Big Bend National Park in Texas. Just playing around with the different apertures and distance from subject. Since then I've taken some graduation and prom pictures with it and they were wonderful.
