A quick backyard test of some new equipment: 1.) a Uni-loc 1700 tripod, and 2.) a Manfrotto 410 geared head. Initial impressions are really positive--the tripod locks down tight, and the geared head makes composition
much easier when one is lying on ones belly (no matter how copious that might be these days.) I can already tell it's going to be a test hauling these over hill-and-dale here in the Smoky Mountains, but I'm going to keep playing the "weak mind, strong back" card as long as the cartilage holds out.
I think of the lens as the round-heeled cousin of Kerrowdown's "Femme Fatale" (A50 2.8)...transported to the colonies and looking for a good time. (Call her...
