a day at the track
Lens: da*300 Camera: k3 ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/90s Aperture: F8
Posted By: wibbly, 05-03-2015, 07:22 PM

got out for a trackday and took the new da*300 with me.

this lens is WAY too long for this stuff. holy crap. ended up shooting from much further away than i wanted to and panning at 300mm is really tough. i just need some more time out there to work on technique.

here are a few that i liked from today..

A very good series of shots, sharp where they should be.

Man, these are great - I couldn't do this if my life depended on it. The first one - with your excellent selective focus ought to be in a magazine.

That's a cracking set, super lens but agree that's it's generally to long for this type. I've used the 60-250MM this type of shooting and found it works really well.

Thanks a bunch.

This was really just a grand experiment. I have never shot at the track with the k3 and I got a bit carried away with the 8fps burst.

I also had never been to this particular track and didn't expect to be able to get so close to the action. The 300 was a bit long.

Next outing I'll be using my 50-135 and I'm going to play around with catch in focus. I've never used it but it sounds like it may be great for this kind of shooting.

Also, does anyone know if you can use CIF with burst mode?

Excellent shots with a great "feel" for riding a fast bike. Perfect selection of the right shutter speed to show the dynamics of the action.

So much depends on your access rights and the track itself, often 300mm is nowhere near long enough.
