Assateague Island is truly an amazing place...
I'm glad I live so close!
I took these shots in the early morning and decided to try something. I setup my tripod facing North, let him walk by from my West to the East in front of my lens.
I metered the shot as he was West of me, but waited to take the shot after he past to my East.
I wish I had stopped down to f8; it's a little soft. But I love the effect of the sun hitting his mane.
I will have plenty of opportunities to try this again. I come here at least twice a week, why wouldn't I?! Wild Turkey, Osprey, Bald Eagles, Wild Ponies, assortment of woodpeckers and water fowl... I'll be posting more here as I practice.
I just got a Sigma 8-16, but I'm really getting into this wildlife photography... I may be looking to trade in the (near?) future for something with a little more reach than my 55-300
Anyways,
Let me know what you think!
