Lil' Painted Desert
Camera: K3 Photo Location: Homolovi SP, Arizona
Posted By: Bob Harris, 05-07-2015, 10:58 PM

We visited this remote area off of I 40 near Winslow AZ and surprised at the amount of color and beauty of this small canyon produced. This is on Navajo Nation land and a must see if near the area.

Quite a site. I probably missed it when my stupid TomTom took me over the mountain as a bypass of Winslow.

Painted Desert and Petrified Forest, two really colorful and beautiful places and pretty much tourist free. Thanks for taking me back Bob. Sunsets there can be pretty spectacular too if my memory serves (which is pretty rare these days.)

Google shows a route like that, I think it is the AZ 65 that goes over the mountain from Winslow and goes to Camp Verde AZ. This is near Homolovi SP. We take the freeway in the motorhome, a much easier drive.

everything was just right Charlie, rain to wet the sandstone and light to bring out the color. Perfect in my mind.

My gosh, buddy, the Southwest is just a treasure trove of scenery - which you capture so well, to the benefit of all of us.

That's my favorite also Bruce, it seemed the light was just right when I took the photo.

Both of us have been very fortunate Heinrich to explore and have adventures through our RV travel. Thanks so much for taking a look and the kind comment.
