A sunset, or as close as I can get to one! (and a shelf)
Posted By: cputeq, 06-08-2008, 06:05 PM

When life hands you lemons, you have to take every chance to make lemonaide!
----

Where I live, you basically have no view of the horizon. I live in flat land, surrounded by lots of trees (Shreveport, LA if anyone is interested).
It's very, very difficult to actually get a shot of the horizon, and even when you do, there's not much to see.

So yes, I get very, VERY jealous of all the wonderful beach / mountain / rolling hills / desert shots I see.

Every now and again, though, you're lucky enough to catch your own little sunset. This was out my front door

-------------------------

In slightly other news, I finish my shelf today. It helps to keep the camera and stuff away from the youngsters.

I'm sure the real carpenters here will probably cry at the sight, but it gets the job done

My wife actually thought the butterfly picture on the right I had downloaded from the web or something!?! Talk about a blow to one's ego!

See, I told you it would make carpenters cry

Originally, I was going to have just the bottom board hold the entire shelf up.

The problem is, the top piece is solid oak, and is heavier than I thought.
The bottom piece is not only undersized, but soft pine. After I had already made everything, I began imagining the bottom piece snapping or a screw stripping out and my stuff crashing to the ground!

So, the top braces were made to help support the shelf, and they work like a charm. But yes, now that you mention it, it looks completely back asswards!

I might flip it around when I get the urge.

Edit -- Which apparently hit me about 23 seconds after posting this.

That just proves....Pentaxians are a "unique" bunch
