The Immortal Regiment brings together people whose grandparents fought from 1941 to 1945. Participants carry portraits of relatives - Great Patriotic War (WWII) veterans and home front workers.
The event in Moscow involves total about 400,000 people of all ages.

Participants gathered on 9 May at 2 pm in Tverskaya Street near the Belorussky Railway Station. At 3 pm, they marched along Red Square.

That's an amazing series--too many fine portraits to count.

Without getting into old discussions about war aims, it's hard for an American to imagine how many casualties the USSR suffered (and inflicted) during those years.

great photos , I like 3,5,10,16 and 21 the best. 16 has that 'I don't want to be here' about him.
