Frog & Toad
Lens: Tokina 400, Sigma 70-300, others Camera: K-5 IIs Photo Location: East Tennessee

Have had some fine wet fun lately, trying to photograph some of our native frogs and toads.

Had to get wet up to my neck in the marsh to sneak up on this tiny Chorus Frog while he was singing. Was even able to enjoy my new K-5's video capability to film several Chorus Frog while singing (although have not yet figured out how to post a video here…)

Like their cousins the frogs, toads sing to attract a mate. Unlike the Chorus Frogs, these American Toads are not at all shy of the nosy photographers. Here's one series of a toad songster near our park's playground…

And another in the manure pond back of our horse stables.

Was a bit too slow to get a good shot of the shy Wood Frogs singing…

But sure found plenty of evidence that their songs were successful!

Hope you enjoyed seeing these guys as much as I enjoyed photographing them!

Excellent. Looking at your nature photography makes me feel as if I'm there....in the marsh.....but not the manure pond.

That sounds like an English pub name.

Fine sharp shots.

No, fortunately the toads are not as shy as the Chorus Frogs. Was working from the (still rather smelly) shore of the pond, using my cheapest, easiest to wash tripod!

Could be the name of a pub, or the name of a childrens' book!
