Bailey Falls
Lens: FA 28, DA 21, DA 70, etc Camera: K-5 IIs Photo Location: East Tennessee

These are from a few months ago, but only now finding time for a bit of posting…

Took a quick hike over in the Bald Mountain area of Greene County TN recently in an area called Dry Creek. Not sure why it's called "dry" creek - usually some pretty good flow…

It's definitely a rocky region - mostly very erosion-resistant sandstone.

There are several excellent hiking trails that branch off - including the Phillips Hollow and Bullen Hollow trails - but most folks choose the trail up to Margarette Falls.

If you are careful, you can hike on up beyond the main falls and find little Bailey Falls in its dark grotto…

Hope you enjoyed this quick hike, and thanks in advance for any comments or critique!

I really love these photographs from the Smokies. Magical places for sure. The little Bailey's Falls looks great.

Great shots of some quite mystical and enchanting places, quite expected to see fairies and elves in at least one of the images.

Indeed much too busy lately - which is why I've not been by here since February!

Hike from Margarette to Bailey falls is a bit of a challenge - involves climbing up the cliff beside the big falls, and then walking upstream (mostly IN the stream). But sure is worth it! Hope you can see it for yourself sometime soon.

And thanks for commenting! Yes, much of Tennessee is green and wild like your North country, but (usually) warmer...

Thanks! More likely to see Black Bears here than elves!
