The Q-S1 and some feeder birds
Posted By: wildman, 05-18-2015, 05:16 AM

Been working with the Q-S1 trying to get the most out of that dinky sensor mounted on the 560mm scope.
Just technical shots out the back door to get acquainted with it's strengths and weakness before I take it out in the field.
Does have a tendency to blow the highlights and intense color will bleed if not careful. But often it surprises me how good it can be given I'm pushing the hell out of that dime sized sensor.
All taken in RAW, PP in Photoshop, at a distance of about 30-40 feet, full frame. It was a moderately low light overcast day. With this setup I should be getting about 60x magnification.

Well, I'm impressed. Can't find anything to complain about in these.

They are all good, but the last one is hyper-super-sharp, very well done.

Thanks all. I think if there is any softness it's most to do with tripod vibration then anything else. At 60x it doesn't take much vibration.
Also at that mag the DOF is paper thin. Then, of course, there is my shaky old hands.

Up close and personal - about 20 feet. Molting House Finch.
