Dead Bug

Found this flying beastie on the floor today and thought I'd try out the macro capabilities of the 28-75.

Not too bad, but you definitely have to stop down to f/9.5! for max sharpness.

Folded a piece of white paper into an "L" shape and stuck under a flourescent lamp.

Timed with 2 sec timer, ISO200 f/9.5. White balance, Exposure, Contrast, Vividness in Lightroom. Sharpness in CS3, Noise reduction using Noise Ninja Plugin with Unsharp set to around 95% at 0.8pix.

After some suggestions from a member of forum, I used the onboard flash for fill, to highlight underbody detail and diffuse shadows a bit more. This worked! I was thinking perhaps I was way too close, but I caught the bug in the light. Too bad I can't repose him to be close to normal, but this turned out better, technically speaking.

This reminds me of a horror movie title I watched as a kid "Children shouldn't play with dead things". But in this case grow men should, if they have a camera Nice captures.
