My DA 55-300mm arrived this morning. These are the first shots taken with it. As you'll see, there is strong backlight and it was a pretty overcast drab morning..oh well!

Short billed Corella - These aren't seen all that often.



















One thing i have already noticed with the lens. It's really hunting and struggling to auto focus around the F5.6 - F8.

The sun has just come out so i'll try some more outdoor shots this afternoon.

We get flocks of both Corellas and Sulphur-crested cockies ... and boy are they loud.
Have been seeing quite a few Gan-Gan and Black Cockatoos lately as well as it gets colder.

Always when I don't have my camera at the ready as well.

My dog keeps them out of the main property though .. she loves chasing bird ... especially the pesky plovers

Nice shots. Very well done, considering the lighting. That new lens looks great.
Temptation....... temptation.
We have large flock of Sulphur Cresteds here. At one stage had no less than 17 on the lawn in my back yard. Went to get the camera, they flew off as I came to the window.
See an occasional Black cockatoo (at some distance) and have quite a number of galahs around as well. The noise gets a bit much at time though.
Shame about the dreaded Indian Mynors though (vermin)!
