Breaking ankles
Lens: Pentax DA f4 300 Camera: K3 Photo Location: Ottawa ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/1000s Aperture: F4

Hi!

I was excited to try this lens out for the 1st time shooting sports.

Being 300mm, I sat way behind the net and even then, it was tough when play was closer.
I do love the quality of this glass compared to my Sigma 70-200, but the latter is more functional being able to widen quickly.

However, I managed to snap some shots of my son playing in the 1st game of the season.
I was pleased with the outcome.

This particular shot is neat as my son (orange) completely juked & deked his best friend out who plays on the other team.
It was a good laugh for them afterwards. His buddy didn't hurt his ankles, but a soccer expression 'breaking ankles' means you've put some good moves on

I'm not sure if there's anything I could have done with the dark shadows in the background? The game was played at night and this field is surrounded by tall cedar hedges so plenty of shadows.
