With headlights and tail lights at the same end and plenty of stone chips on the bonnet...

This is a really nice photo. Thank you for posting it.

Right now, I think it may be going, because I think I see some red glow from the "tail lights". Trains like this are useful because they save the time and effort for turning it around at terminals {end-points}. In Chicago, for years some of the commuter lines have used a similar setup, except they have a regular locomotive at one end and a "cab equipped" car at the other.

Not sure about all the technical malarky, but it's handy if the windy wiper is broken at one end...
