Aurora lights or just a cool sunset?
Posted By: Gareth, 06-23-2015, 01:38 PM

All images with the Pentax K5ii & Sigma EX HSM f3.5 10-20mm

So popped to my local beach last night as there was a red warning of aurora lights and it said it was high around half 9 so I popped along to see what was occuring, if at all any action. On the way down to the beach, after stopping off to shoot some birds, I could see there was starting to get some good colour in the sky:

So I hung fire for a bit for the light to drop a little and then yanked out the big stopper for some long exposure images:

1.
1 minute, 40 seconds | f8 | 10mm | ISO 100

2.
3 minutes, 10 seonds | f8 | 20mm | ISO 160
