The cabin has been looking a little neglected for a while now....

So Tess over the last month has slowly, done all the exterior, from the porch to the walls to the roof, everything.

So finally it's all done,

And we can get on to spliting and piling our next winter's wood supply.

The border collies have to be involved....

Splitting wood and throwing balls..

The $200 Canadian Tire wood splitter...

Getting in on the piling...

We'll be working on this for a few more days...

There's beer in the fridge if anyone wants to come up to help, and there's lots of room in the cabin.

Cabin looks great, the red roof really sets it off. I'm so glad I gave up burning wood years ago, every fall my back says thank you.

I still do it. It's still the best way to save money on heat. I heat my place for about $1000 a year. There's no natural gas lines here, anything else would be three times that. That's 2k tax free. It's hard to argue with that if you don't have anything else going on in your life.

At first I thought you painted the roof red so you would be easier to spot for a food drop when you get snowed in. But then the first picture shows that when you get snowed in, the red roof is of no use. Talk about a Catch 22.

Nice series Norm.

We have had a few times when we couldn't get in or out, but the grocery, which is much better than the number of people we have in Whitney deserve, because of all the tourists, is only about a click away. We can drag a sled over in the snow and come home with enough groceries for a week. It's not likely we'll need a food drop. The red roof was in answer to the query "What goes with walnut stain?" after she stained the exterior.

I have a simular log splitter. Everyone laughed when I bought it. What are going to do with that toy they asked. Once they saw me splitting my campfire wood with it they were laughing no more. Now those same people always want to borrow it. Nice set of photos, I wish I had a place to get away from the city. For now my trailer has to do.

Ya, the guy down the hill laughed at it too, and told me about a 25 HP one his cousin the heavy equipment guy made. But who's does he borrow? Mine.
