Took my family to the Lincoln Boyhood Memorial on 4th of July. For those who don't know, Abraham Lincoln's family lived in Southern Indiana for 14 years, before he moved to Illinois when he was 21. There is a little national park (well a memorial) there that recognizes his growth to manhood there. It isn't a very big park, maybe a hundred acres, but it has a memorial there and a working farm where they grow crops much as they would have when Lincoln was living there 200 hundred years ago. There is also a memorial to his mother, Nancy Hanks Lincoln, who died of milk sickness there.
Working the Soil.
The Memorial.
Little Diorama of burying Nancy Hanks (this was shot with the DA 15 at iso 6400 1/8 second with the K-01).
Lincoln Cabin (it is a recreation, the real one no longer exists).
Rooster.
Sheep
The Garden.
And of course, a couple of shots of my kids for good measure...
Photos were shot with the DA 15 limited and the DA *50-135 (exact exif is available on Flickr). If anyone is ever passing through near Santa Claus, Indiana and has a couple of hours to spend, I would highly recommend the park.
