About Dandelions.........
Lens: various Photo Location: Alberta, Canada

.......when they invade our lawns we spent time and money to TRY and get rid of them but than we go out into the wilds and it is a complete different story. It is amazing how many animals depend on them.
Here is a small variety:

Great photos Heinrich, thanks for showing. And you are right on; everyone, me included, has at least once been fascinated by getting to the ground and shooting up at a backlit dandelion seed head. Although if it is on our own lawn we yank it out right after.

Great nature shots. I'm just enjoying the dandelions and anything else that's chosen to grown in my back yard this year. At least one bird comes almost daily to feed off the flowers or the bugs it finds on them.

Thank you and you are welcome, I have spent considerable time on my hands and knees removing this weed.........

Thank you, I have started to ignore them as well, it's futile anyway.

I like the tall varieties, they're important food sources and great opportunities to find insects to photograph.

Wonderful photos, Heinrich - simply first rate with the crisp precision you always bring to your images. Who would have thought that a common, ubiquitous "weed" would have such a profound place in the life's chain? Certainly not me . . . . . . but then I'm a chemist not a zoologist.

What a tremendous set! Not only the technical aspects of the photos, but also the display of meaningful interactions between the animals and dandelions... these are more than pretty pictures.

Thank you for posting these, I feel good for viewing them.
