Sharp pix, especially the first one taken with the Takumar F 4. I was going to say it's 'Tak' sharp, but that's too easy.

I have a couple of 55mm Takumars and a F 3.5 135mm Takumar. They're great lenses, very sharp. Even way back when in the screw mount days, Pentax knew how to make excellent lenses.

Thanks! The 1st one was taken in the shade - ISO 800, 1/60s - but I was close enough and steady enough to resolve good detail. I agree with you, the old Taks are wonderful, and some of them are really world-class lenses.

Nice!! Very sharp with some great color. The picture of the finch is my favorite.
The drool from the duck is an added bonus.

These are fantastic. There are some great modern lenses out there, but then something like this comes along and you know that the old ones are just as good if you have the skill.

Very impressive, especially the heron who was ready for his close-up! I'm curious, though, about your technique focusing without an OVF--all on a tripod, or just Ahnoldian forearms?

Sharp, detailed and rich in color - can't beat a combination like that. Very nice.

Thanks, guys. The Taks are a joy to use, and other than sometimes severe CA and a bit of susceptibility to side lighting, they are wonderful optically.

Come with me if you want to live. The Taks are really not that heavy. The first shot I was sitting, the second squatting, and the last two, leaning. I use a cheap LCD Viewer on my K-01, which in addition to magnifying the LCD, allows me to shoot DSLR-style.

Very interesting...I think Ming Thein reviewed a Zacuto model a while back, though it's unfortunate that while my myopia lets me focus in LV without my eyeglasses, I'd have no idea what I was pointing the camera at!

Otherwise, a great showcase of what that "obsolete" Tak can do.

My LCD Viewer is similar to the one on the right - the eyecup is large enough to fit around one side of the frame of my glasses. My eyes are mostly too bad to shoot without glasses.

Thanks for elaborating--the "Brick" really makes a lot of sense for me since I'm a K5+LV+tripod guy, anyway...the loupe might mean I wouldn't lose that much functionality (though I might appear more conspicuous than I'd like!)

Great work with that old glass

Very fine indeed.

Those of us who shoot manually most of the time appreciate the time, energy and skill it takes to capture wildlife in this manner.

Great shots, all of them, but I really got a kick at the perfect timing of the duck, you nailed it. TFS your photography, enjoyed it.
