Grandfathers' Moss Rose
Posted By: Kerrowdown, 07-19-2015, 04:59 AM

This was my Grandfathers' Moss Rose, by that I mean he owned it and took from house to house with him. My Father then did the same and now it falls to me to take care of it.

Wow, sounds like a story behind that which my USA experience doesn't recognize. Great image and interesting heirloom! My wife preserved a rose from our early days using corn starch but nothing like this.

-edit - come to think of it, my sister replanted (and cloned) my mom's most fragrant rose, so I suppose I do understand I have not seen such a mossy rose though, not even in western Oregon/Washington.

Thanks, big responsibility though if it pegs out on me.

Here's another image from this bush.

Thought I'd done it a mischief last year as it didn't flower at all after being moved, but this year it has many buds on it.

I've never seen one of these before. Great story behind it, glad you didn't kill it and invoke the family curse.

I don't think that they are rare on anything, just different.

Whoa that jumps right out at you. Interesting tradition. I've never seen that type with that wrap around it. What kind is it?

Lovely photo. Reminds me of my wife's Dad's rose that has to follow us and then our children.
