Chanonry Point Revisited.
Posted By: Kerrowdown, 07-21-2015, 01:19 PM

After a two hour wait, I met up with the most uncooperative Dolphins on the planet... they had an audience of folk armed with assorted imagery capture equipment from iPads to camo'd bazookas.

Me, I got the focus right, correct shutter speed, correct iso, right focal length (no cropping on these), but from them... no Flipper like tendencies.

I'm sure they just come here to play with the photographers.

Twice I've tracked dolphins (in a boat harbour and an estuary) and was most dissatisfied with my results.
Your first image shows about twice the body length of my best capture; I got dorsal fin and not much else.

It amazes me the crisp sharpness you get consistently. The "duchess"? All you need is Flipper. A trip to Fla.?

Aye, well she is a A* lens... and I remember reading long ago somewhere that she contains an alleged (not confirmed) ED element within, like my “Gorgeous Lady” does.

Hmm. I 'm seeing that the primes have the "clear" advantage. If I may be so bold as to say you may have extensive experience from the film days pre-zoom? Me, back then I bought a P3n and a Kalimar 28-105 f3.5 to 4.5 cause that's all my budget allowed in 1980. Still have it.
