I shot this on a 93 year old freight locomotive, I was taken aback by the extreme heat of the fire and slightly worried about how if the water level dropped below the top of the firebox, there would be a sizable explosion originating in that hole.

one of the main jobs of the fireman is to make sure that doesn't happen.
