Aerodynamic rocks.
Posted By: Fritz, 06-15-2008, 10:20 PM

The wind was really whipping when I took my dog for a walk on the beach today. I saw these little rocks and thought it was interesting the way the sand blows around them. You can see the sand in motion around the rock in the second shot. There were better examples of the aerodynamic rocks, but my dog trampled all over them.

Thanks for looking.

Fascinating Fred. Would be interesting to go back tomorrow and see if they are still there and if so, see how different the patterns are.
I know it's not but the second one looks upside down to me, especially bottom right quadrant, an optical illusion.

Thanks Gary. That is the nice thing about the beach, it's always changing and giving me something new to see each time I go out. It's a shame my dog destroyed the best examples from yesterday. Oh well, she had fun.

Fred,
very interesting images. I really like the minimal composition of the first one.
