Just got back from being out watching the perseid meteors on my kayak. Fortunately the night was mainly clear, got to watch a few reaaaaally nice ones come down (of course when the camera was stowed in the drybag). I did manage to get some astro shots from the 'yak tonight that weren't absolutely horrid. This one here was one of the best of the bunch, and a very special shot given I was out on the kayak with constant motion. Too bad I didn't get any meteors, lol.

Yes, the angle is a bit awkward, but I think in this case it adds character. You try to get a decent astro shot from a kayak in the middle of the lake shooting handheld...

The image has been run through silkypix and heavily tweaked for sharp, de-noise, white balance, tone, color saturation, contrast, and exposure boost. I then ran it through corel photo paint x4 and did a noise removal in there at max threshold, then resized the image to 25% of original.

Very nice! I think it turned out great, and it does give a good feel for the environment you were in. I like the fact your 'yak has the proper navigation/marker lights too

It's a legal requirement to take boats out on the waterways in this state at night. Last thing I need is a several hundred dollar fine from PFBC.... even if I could easily navigate the lake without them. The c-clamp screwmounts are starting to dig into the plastic of the kayak though. Of course.... the kayak might not last too many launches, beaching it on the asphalt launch ramps is really wearing the plastic down in spots, need to see if there's a melt-on buildup kit out there... else I'll be shaving plastic from other areas of the yak and melting it on with a soldering pen.

USCG approved lighting is also required out here on the salt, but not everyone does... Of course, most of us little boats are daytimers only.

Google kayak plastic repair and you will find a lot of resources on it. Mine is getting to that stage too. 😕
