Just After Sunset at Swartz Bay
Lens: SMCP A 35-105mm f/3.5 Camera: K20D Photo Location: Victoria ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/640s Aperture: F5.6

This was taken from a ferry during my return trip to Vancouver from Victoria, where I picked up a copy of a "stack of primes" --- the SMC P 35-105mm f/3.5. The pastel colours of the sky and water really stood out just after sunset. It is true that this zoom has beautiful rendering of colours. The original photo was slightly darker than this but the colours are pretty much what I remember.

Beautiful colours, almost looks like oil film on the water.

Thanks everyone for your compliments. I wish there are more scenes like this where that warm band of light just hands above the horizon at sunset. By the way, that was actually facing east.

Nice image. If that's a red buoy out there you must have been leaving Victoria?

Thanks. Yes, I was leaving Victoria at the end of the day. Did you guess it from the direction of the wake and the colour of the bouy?

Yep, the red buoys are on the left leaving a harbor and on the right entering a harbor.

It's puzzling though. This red bouy is on the right side of the ferry but we are leaving the harbour as shown by the wake.

I have an explanation why that red bouy is on the opposite side of what you would expect in the US: Canadians don't like following Americans. In fact, the best definition of what is Canadian is "not American".
