Sailing
Lens: Sigma 50-500 OS HSM Camera: K3 Photo Location: Petoskey, MI

Was camping last month on LakeMichigan and there was a sailing regatta going on. Of course that was the morning it rained and there was heavy fog. At the last minute the sun came out but the was fog everywhere. Waited as long as I could for the fog to lift. Shot with the Bigma @ 500 on K3. First time I ever used the polarizer with it.

Thankyou I really wish the weather had been better, but that is life on the big lake.

Terrific photos, Michael. Before moving to Texas, we sailed on the other side of the state (Saginaw Bay) for many years - not nearly as nice as the Petoskey area waters.

Thankyou, I grew up on Lake Michigan and yes this one of the most beautiful areas on all of the great lakes.

Thanks, there sure was enough wind which is why I was using a tripod. It actually turned out to be beautiful day.

Thanks, I almost gave up because of the fog. When I first arrived you could barely see the boats. Growing up on Lake Michigan I decided to set up and wait it out. I was glad I waited.

I like having the fog in there, personally - gives it a little different feel than most sailing regatta pics. And since it's a thin hazy look, it gives a lot of depth to the field of boats...

Nice shooting, I like your set a lot. The haze/fog plus the polarizer have made for a good variety of blue hues.

Thankyou, I was concerned that nothing would turn out.

Those are nice! Well composed and processed. I like the contrast and the bright whites of the sales and hulls.

Thankyou for the kind words. Those boats move pretty fast. It is like shooting the moon through a 500mm lens. You blink and it is almost out of the frame.

I agree with RoxnDox, there's much depth to the pics and the boats really pop because of the haze.
