A few stray shots from the Aberdeen area and then it will be on to the Highlands!

One of the things I enjoyed in Aberdeenshire was all the castles and their formal gardens. I don't get much of a chance to shoot macros as there isn't a great variety of flowers around my house, but here you can wander up and down rows forever shooting hundreds of flowers and bees.

I don’t know what these flowers are called. Most of the flower pictures were taken at Crathes Castle.

This one was so close! I really liked it, but the bee was just out of DOF (or maybe he moved too fast).

Shot with the 55-300 mm.

Another path on the slopes of Bennachie. These are almost rain forest conditions. Moss and ferns are everywhere and the green is intense.

This stairwell was actually in an Edinburgh Hotel. Thought I’d have some fun with it,

This last one for kerrowdown. Yes, whiskey is made in the lowlands! Glen Garioch distillery in Oldmeldrum, Scotland.

These are all well taken. But the second and third really stand out. The pattern in the anthers' head in the second and the texture of the purple petals in third are eye catching.

P.S.

What lens did you use for the first three shots?

Thanks chmance! I used the Pentax D-FA Macro 100 mm f2.8 for all of those three shots.

Aye, but this is not the "real" proper stuff.

Outstanding shots all of them, that shot of the stairs makes it look like they go straight up.

Thanks Scorpio7.... I see what you mean. Actually it was just a three story building but the wide angle plays tricks.
