This telescope won 1st place for craftsmanship at Stellafane, an annual telescope making and astronomy convention. The bearings supporting the main tube were made to look like Jupiter by laminating wood and sanding the assembly into a smooth round shape, stopping at just the right point where a knot looked like the Great Red Spot. The second image shows a wider snapshot of the scope being inspected by the judges.
