This Mallard Duck Stayed Put Long Enough for a Slow Photographer
Lens: SMCP M 28 f/2.8 Camera: K10D Photo Location: Burnaby, B.C. ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/125s
Posted By: chmance, 08-25-2015, 12:15 AM

This wild duck at Deer Lake stayed put long enough for me to take this shot. I was finding it hard to focus the lens given the K10D's small viewfinder. I was so used to the MX's (film camera) bright and huge viewfinder. By the way, this used K10D was my first ever dSLR, which I bought three months prior to my taking this photo in July last year.

P.S. Addition

I could be just me but there is something in the K10D's CCD-based sensor that renders the colours more vividly that either my K20D or K5. Too bad I wasn't aware of the importance of shooting in RAW then as I would have loved to explore more the depth of colours in this shot.

It's amazing the duck stayed on the rock for you. Nice capture and colors.

The reflection on the water along with the duck silhouette looks nice.

Yes, I was lucky that have one cooperative mallard on the rock. Thanks for your kind words.
