First shots with Photex tilt/shift 35 mm
Posted By: KungKrille, 06-19-2008, 01:19 AM

I finally recieved my Photex tilt/shift 35 mm lens with a K mount. I didn´t know
that it was so hard to use a fully manual lens on a dslr. I have read some about
the technology behind tilt/shift lenses but that was even harder to figure out.
Well, after some try and error I got these shots. I don´t think they look like
miniatures but at least the tilt effect is pretty cool.

They don't look like miniatures to you, because you took the pictures; but that lens really made everything seem like it was no longer than a couple of inches. I like the result.

I paid $595 for the lens at eBay. I´m not sure yet if I should have bought it but I have to convince my girlfriend that I am You should have seen her face when I told her that I ordered it...

The lens blur is straight from the camera but I added a bit contrast and sharpness after resizing the images. About sharpness - it´s not easy to focus with the default matte focus screen so I will have to practice a lot

Now I ma tempted. I looked at the pictures before I read he text and thought they were miniatures as well. Can see how it would take some practice to et shots right with this lens. Thanks for sharing.

I love that lens! I want one!

The first pic looks like you placed a model crane and some action figures on a rooftop.

As has been said, you don't see the effect becaus eyou took the shot, so you can imagine the scene. They are spot on, I love the effects, outstanding results.

I don't know if you would like them to look like miniatures, but now that you've mentioned it, I think they do.
Fine looking photos though

Thank you for your comments guys I had a better shot of another train
where you could see the whole set and it was running on the track in the middle.
Too bad the light was unpredictable. At the same time as I pressed the shutter
button the sun suddenly appeared so it got over-exposed beyond rescue
I might try again another day.

tilt shift lenses aren't new. they're awesome when used from a high elevation.

i'll pick one up one day, just for the fun of it. i'd love to get some tilt/shift shots of parliment hill in ottawa.
