Excellent shot, I've never been able to catch one that close. Being allergic I tend to keep my distance.

This is a great image, well composed with exceptional clarity. Excellent DOF and good natural looking color.
There is a very fine grained noise though permeating the image that I wouldn't expect to see at ISO 200. Do you know what causes it? Or did you add grain in the PP? I get something like this when I push the Sharpness --> Detail slider a little too hard in Lightroom 5. Anyway it's not a complaint because I like the image, it reminds of those cool grainy pictures National Geographic used to always publish some years ago.

Thanks for the compliments everybody. It's cropped to about a third of original, I find this a good way to get a little more DOF and yet still get decent sized prints.

Is this a sand wasp of some sort? It's pretty hairy, but maybe it's a male.
