Thoughts and criticism on these portraits of my child taken with the 16-50. Felt lazy and didnt take with the 50 1.7. But am quite happy with the results

I think I'd be happy too! But I'd like to see a smile out of him.
Timeless shots, it won't be long before he won't fit on that bench anymore. Take lots of shots!

I like the middle one the best and you have a very cute son. He does have a bit of a forlorn look in the photos that makes me want to give him a dollar.

The first photo is a nice photo, but he feels to centered in the image. I guess I would try to crop it to give less room above his head. I would probably brighten them a little bit and I wonder if they wouldn't work well as black and white photos.

I don't do a lot of portraits, but those are my thoughts.

These photos make me miss those times when my kids were young and were all too willing to pose for me. So enjoy this stage Mattox. That stage doesn't last very long.

Anyway, I like the second one the best because of the eye contact. I love his expression and also the soft side lighting. I probably would crop the left-hand side so that his face is farther away from the centre.

Great comments and critism guys, really appreciate the thoughts. I am actually just really happy with the performance of the lens with portraits. I only ever shoots landscape so I am quite excited to give it another go

The speech bubble for each could read... "Why do I have to sit here", "You not finished yet, I'm bored", "Enough already, I'm off".

Great shots to poke the memory into gear in the years to come.

Pretty much sums it up. But he loves posing for the k5. The iPhone no, but the k5...stays perfectly still

Cos he recognises a pro camera when he sees one.
