F40 Motorsports

Some of you car guys and gals may have watched the TV show, "Chasing Classic Cars", which features Wayne Carini and his enterprise, F40 Motorsports located a bit east of Hartford, CT.

A few weeks ago, we stopped by F40 during a short visit to CT to visit our daughter and son-in-law. Wayne was away, but I was able to spend the better part of an hour talking to Mike Roberts, F40's ebullient sales manager who showed me a 1984 Lambo Contach ($525K), a beautifully restored 1968 Porsche 911L Soft-Top Targa ($155K) and a gorgeous black 1988 Porsche 930 coupe ($195K). Especially interesting was a 2003 Ferrari 360 Spider F-1 with only 8500 miles; I've always wanted to buy a Ferrari, so I suggested to wife Connie that since we had refundable return plane tickets, it would be a simple matter to cancel our flight and drive the 360 back to Texas. This suggestion was greeted with a lack of enthusiasm so chilling that ice cycles formed on my knee caps, so we returned to Hobby on Southwest .

Anyway, here's a pic I shot of a replica of a Porsche 550 in the F40 show room - it was too tightly packed to get pics of the other wonderful stuff on display and we happened to be there while the lot was being resurfaced so a lot of the available cars were tucked away out of sight.

Cool 550. Let's see, 4 cams + roller bearing mains = 1 really expensive overhaul!

your right there - roller bearing crank meant 'Hirth' style built-up construction. these original '547' carrera engines are very expensive to
maintain and keep running

Thanks for looking, Steve, Top and EM. As I mentioned, this thing is a replica - I've no idea whether the car sports the 4 cam mill.
