Moon shots Sept 27
Lens: Super Takumar 300mm F4 Camera: K-01 Photo Location: Toronto, ON, Canada ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/13s Aperture: F5.6

Wanted to shoot the eclipse tonight, but cloud cover prevented it. That said, I decided to get whatever shots of the moon that I could, and the results are much better than I expected.

I shot approx 80 images, and I haven't viewed all of them. These a few that caught my eye.

The jpegs were made from RAW with no post processing adjustments. For what it is worth, please note that images are 400 ISO and 800, and there are several shutter speeds. (check the exif)

Thanks for the comments. These are 72 dpi low res jpg's. The RAW files have more detail.

I haven't had this kind of success shooting the moon with cloud cover before. I guess the super moon provided more extreme back lighting to give good contrast. The funny thing is, that I could see things on the live view LCD, that I couldn't see with my eyesight. The sky just looked like a mass of gray, but I could see the moon peeking out by viewing the LCD and I could get a quick snap. My initial shots were at 100 ISO using 2 to 4 second exposures, but the clouds were moving too fast. I upped the ISO to 400, 800 and even 3200, to speed up the shutter speed and stop movement. 400 ISO seemed to be the sweet spot. I still haven't had a chance to screen all the images.

You did very well at adjusting settings and moving with changing scene. I only took pictures of the moon once or twice before so i am not experienced at all with it. I got a few similar shots but you captured cleaner images. I didn't realize the need for higher iso and faster shutter speeds due to the moon moving. I know what you mean when you expess more vivid images on the screen than in the sky.
Looking forward to your shots.
