Lighting + Bokeh + Flowers =
Posted By: codiac2600, 06-21-2008, 06:16 PM

I've been spending more time working on a shooting style outside of my model photography. I've fallen in love with a certain lighting technique and dof tricks to create a more artistic image with some impact. Color separation is also an element I've been working on and when everything combines nicely I think the image becomes more than just a picture.

Let me know what you guys think of this set of flowers and how the composition with the way the lighting works melded with the bokeh and lastly the final visual impact.

Just to let you know these are all wild flowers/plants found out in this lovely patch of natural prairie near my home. The grass is about 4 to 6 feet high and the bugs are normally so abundant I run away after an hour just to stay sane. Today there just wasn't a bug worthwhile to shoot so I switched my game plan.

By far my favorite!!!

Very nice shots Chris. What lens or lenses were you using? I like the white flower that you have straight on but your watermark goes right through the flower.

I'm only new to dlsr photography, but my eyes like what they see...Composition, lighting, bokeh and visual impact...all brilliant. Congrats! I also would like to know what lense you used?

wow, Chris, these are really nice, I enjoyed them very much.

I like that you included some spent flower heads in your series, sometimes they are just as interesting to me as the flowers in full bloom.

Beautiful stuff Chris. The technique definitely works well and makes the subject pop from the surroundings. Love the backlighting as well.

People sometimes complain about the fact I frame and copyright my images outside the picture area. But I have to say that that is the most distracting watermark ever. I cannot judge the images when the watermark goes right through the main subject.

Very very nice, my favourite would be your fourth shot. Great contrast and bokeh.
