Backyard Birds - 2/7/07
Posted By: Matthew Roberts, 02-08-2007, 05:41 AM

Some of the birds in my back yard, taken with a K100D and a Sears Multicoated 70-210mm f/4 zoom.

Goldfinch on the feeder:

Red-winged Blackbird:

Goldfinch in a Chinaberry tree:

Cardinal on the back fence:

And some bird that I don't know of (looks a little perturbed):

All at 210mm.

Matt, I think you deserve a longer lens with all that beautiful bird life right in your backyard! ;-)

Thanks guys.

LaRee, you too? What should I get, I'd sort've like an AF lens, for relatively cheap.

I can wholeheartedly recommend the Tamron 70-300 LD DI lens. I posted some examples that I think you can find in the lens threads here. And here is a link to a post I made at dpreview on this lens:
Tamron 70-300 DI, why I like this lens (m) [Page 1]: Pentax SLR Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review
I picked it up on e-bay for $160.00 or thereabouts including shipping. I think it is a real bargain!
Now I am off to the ocean to see what kind of sunset images I can gather this evening. :-)

Tks again, LaRee, is it the one with macro? I'll have to see if I can convince my parents.

I can't be certain, but I'm wondering if that last one is a yellow-rumped warbler in winter colours?

Thank you, Andrew.

Does look like the drawing in Sibley's!
