But in the US, a tipped ear is a sign that a feral cat has been trapped, neutered, and released (TNR) to maintain a small cat population but eliminate reproduction and huge increases in cat numbers.

Sometimes, just the pointed tip is clipped off and other places use a notch very similar to this photo. However, it is every bit as possible that this cat lost his ear-tip in a fight. What do I know?!?!? (nothing)

I really doubt that this cat can has been neutered, you can see the agression in its eyes. :-)
