Taken at two different times after moon rise...

All @ 600mm

the 1st one a about 10 minutes after moon rise, the other one about another 10 minutes later...

This one is a single image
1/125, ISO 400, f5.6

The 2nd one had a HDR Merge treatment in Lr6 (5 Images bracketing merged). And I also had to fix lots of CA's.
from 1/5 to 1/250, ISO 800, f6.3

Wait until the moon is higher in the sky and you will get less atmospheric turbulence in your pictures. Out of the two I think I like the second one better though

I agree with IsaacT, like the second one more.

I prefer shot number one. Shot two appears to be less uniformly exposed and just seems more processed.

I prefer the second one. the first one is a bit dramatic - though nothing wrong with it. it boils down to personal preference.

Number one gets my attention. The moon is more "alive" and interesting in it. Good shots both.

I like #2. The moon in the first one has a greenish halo on the top half and there is a lot of noise in the sky. The second is a much cleaner image.

The choices are quite splitted!

Actually, I did not wanted to wait too much to get the real effect and color of the moon just raising...
It looks like an orange surface
