Steam at Night
Camera: K3
Posted By: StephenHampshire, 10-30-2015, 04:41 AM

As is well known, the K3 is awful at high IS Os

Here are some recent shots ruined by the crummy camera. All were taken at Ropley station and shed on the preserved Mid Hants Railway, which recently held its annual Autumn Steam gala. All handheld shots

I presume you were making those comments tongue in cheek?
The only one that looks a little too noisy is the B&W one. The rest look great!

The only excessive noise is coming from the engines.

and BTW: I really like this set.

Love the first shot of the 9F - very atmospheric, it reminds me of a painting by Terence Cuneo

wow, absolutely superb shots. I particularly like 1,3,5 & 6.
No.3 & 5 are really evocative - worth printing and framing.

Yes tongue in cheek! My K5 was a little better above 3200, but the AF on the K3 (and focus peaking n iveview if you need it) make the later really easy to use in low light....

Anyone who complains about the noise from a good digital SLR needs to look at images on any color emulsion ASA400 or higher. The B&W above could pass for Tri-X pushed a couple of stops.

Funnily enough I used to use Tri-X pushed to 1600 in my old film developing days!
