Posted By: kengoh, 11-13-2015, 07:53 AM

Sharing my collection of Spiderhunter from 5yrs of birding at Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand

#1 Spectacled Spiderhunter (K5 + Sigma 500 F4.5)

#2 Little Spiderhunter (K5 + Pentax DA*300)

#3 Streaked Spiderhunter (K5 + Sigma 500 F4.5)

#4 Yellow Eared Spiderhunter (K5 + Sigma 500 F4.5)

#5 Grey Breasted Spiderhunter (K5-IIs + Sigma 500 F4.5)

There are 7 species of spiderhunter recorded in the Birds of Thailand Book, I've only collected 5 species, short of the remaining 2, the Thick Billed Spiderhunter and Long Billed Spiderhunter. Hope I can meet this 2 species one day.

Thanks for viewing.

Great shots. Nice composition in each. Are the two varieties of spider hunter you are missing native to your area?

Thanks joip, only #2 Little Spiderhunter is native, the rest are not, even #2 is not easy to find too, in fact I've not met this native specie for 2-3yrs!

#'s 1 and 3 wonderful shots....I see they are taken with the Sigma 500. That Sigma 500 is quite a lens.

They look so tiny. Must be hard to spot carrying around a big lens & trying to be discreet! Good luck!
