Had left the Veterans Day Memorial and had no clue they were planning a fly by and almost missed it just before they disappeared behind some buildings.

Nope you got it right... Red, white and green.... Colors found on the flag of Italy. The service was for vets in Rome, Italy

Sorry, that was an ignorant question on my part. I should have looked up where you were. When you said "Veteran's Day" (as opposed to "Armistice Day"), I assumed it was in the USA.

But still not a bad question. From what I understand they do two fly overs a year at events tied to the armed services.

In fact the day is actually called "National Unity and Armed Forces Day " and fell on 4 November.
