What a great composition Carie. Very nice of that hummer to sit and pose for you like this. Nice!

Why don't the birdies ever sit still for me? Could it be because I always have a large leashed labrador in one hand? Hmmmmm.

Nice shot! It was not only nice of the hummer to sit and pose but to do so so close to the flowers that frame the image nicely.

Wow. There's such a nice, cool, smoothness to it all.

What kind of hummer is that, an Anna's? All we have here are Black-chinned and Ruby-throated, and they don't look like this...

Very very nice Carie. You should consider submitting this shot to the Pentax Photo Gallery (if you havn't done so already). It is original and very striking.

(you'll have to remove the watermark though...they insist on unmarked images but will add your copyright notice if it is accepted)

An exceptional shot! Nice color, composition, and unusual to catch a hummingbird sitting and posing for you. I do think the bright spots on the lattice tend to draw attention slightly away from the hummingbird. Possibly those spots could be burned in a little or cloned/healed so they're not quite so bright. I agree that you should submit this to PPG. Thanks for posting.

Carie, wonderful shot and, as already said, great bokeh. Another vote here for submission to PPG.

It looks like a female Anna's and they do range as far as B.C.

Pat, I'll oblige once I finalize and PP those images from the competition... so you can fake it... Besides, we have a regular "airshow" on my front porch...

Cheers,
Marc
