Nice work, and great focus on the eyes. How close do you have to be with a reversed 28mm to get shots like that? I would think you would almost be squashing the bug with the lens!

Thx. Reverse 28mm gave me abt 5cm working distance, kinda similar to Raynox DCR-250 but reverse 28mm gives me DOF.^^ It's better than macro lens @ 1:1 with vivitar macro TC @ 1:1 which only gives me abt 3cm working distance^^;

lol I'm serious^^; If you look at the lower portion of the insect, it's not well exposed. I should had used a 2nd diffuse flash below^^;

Holy smokes. How did you get the bugs to cooperate? Did you put them in the freezer first to make them stop moving?

I shared on this in CS Pentax sub forum just now, here's what I wrote;

QuoteQuote:
Dragonflies u need to look for those "friendly" ones. skippers (the butterflies) are friendly, they normally allow u to get quite near. The papaya fruitfly is feeding so getting close is easy. Spiders and house flies are one of those easier subjects, just need to be quick.

May thing is no big movement or too many side movements. Try to be slow approaching but fast taking the shot. Problem with reverse lens is it tends to be very dark, so focusing in shades tends to be a challenge.
At least those are what I'd observed in my 2 yrs of macros^^;
