Canyonlands

We left home the first week of June to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary by visiting some of our favorite national parks. After visiting 13 national parks, numerous monuments, wildlife refuges, recreation areas and national seashores, our adventures came to and end and I am now going to blast the forum with lots of photos. I hope you enjoy coming along with me on this wonderful trip.

This time I will take you to Canyonlands (we actually got up at 5AM to capture sunrise at Mesa Arch). I have also included views of the canyon from Deadhorse State Park. The final view is from the bottom of the canyon. This after a hair-raising truck ride down a steep dirt road. It took three hours to go 20 miles. Never again.

My gosh, Susan, these are spectacular landscapes - each and every one. The more I study them, the more I see.

It was well worth getting up in the morning for that first one.

I've been on the forum only sporadically for the last few months; I'm sure glad I didn't miss this one. I'm looking forward to following all of your travels!

Me too Jer. Lousy WiFi most of the trip but I did try to look in whenever I could. Nice to be home with all the amenities. We lost two lenses due to failure of some sort (the sigma 16-250 and the pentax 16-45), my 300 and 1.4 tele quit working together for a while too and I thought it was a goner but it seems to have recovered for now. We had a great time though and took thousands of photos.

Susan, all of those photos are absolutely breathtaking! I cannot pick a favorite, because each has it's own beauty!

Thanks so much for posting them, looking forward to more of your anniversary trip photos!

May I ask what lens you were using; I can't find the info on your images.

We covered a lot of ground and it was so hard to decide on a favorite place. They all have something to offer.

Thanks so much. After losing the pentax 16-45 and the sigma 16-250, I decided on the 16-85 to partially fill the gap left. I have been really pleased with it. Seems to be a great walking around lens.

Thanks. I always tell people that I have been married for 50 years but he has only been married for 40 as his military career kept him away from home a lot.

Maybe that's the secret to increased longevity of marriages.
