Fleurs du mal
Lens: K55/1.8 Camera: K5 Photo Location: Hastie Natural Area, Knoxville Tennessee ISO: 80

A warm morning but a winter scene from a ramble earlier in the day (I'm thinking that's Prairie Goldenrod there in front of the Broom Sedge, but would happily accept correction.) Otherwise, bokeh is sort of new territory for me, but the $70 K55/1.8 seems to bring some to the party...

I have no idea about the names of the plants but I really like this. It has an antique feel about it and background is perfect. Well done.

Ha, thanks--not quite as grand as the landscapes you've been sharing, but it will do for a morning's walk here in Tennessee.

Thanks for the comment--I'm just learning about what's possible when you open-up a bit on shots like these, but fortunately that old "K" is pretty forgiving. (BTW, that's some big country you live in...I might be past getting a full DSLR kit into and out of the gorge.)

I've only had my K30 for a few months and have not taken it into the gorge yet. When I do, I'll be packing light.

Nice warm colors, and the creamy background makes the focus pop with a great 3D effect. I do not know the botanical details either, but really like this. Great rich, warm colors.

That's a palette by the Dutch Masters. Very nice.

Very good--I'm finding that cartilage is definitely a non-renewable resource.

David, Luftluss-- Thanks for the comments! I will have to study up on DOF a bit--I love the K55's rendering but it sliced it a bit too fine at f2.8 on this shot.

Too fine or not, this one is a wall hanger IMHO CreationBear.

Ha, no chance of that since my wife accuses me of taking only depressing pictures, then making them gloomier still in post. Otherwise I'll be on the lookout for some views from Mt. Mitchell or Grandfather Mountain--that's pretty spectacular country packed in there.

Mitchell and Grandfather photos will have to wait until next year. Have yet to shoot there with my K30.

Well done with the dramatic PP.
