Monument Valley Final
Camera: k-3 Photo Location: Utah/Arizona
Posted By: slowpez, 12-16-2015, 07:31 AM

The last four I will post from Monument Valley. The first is another HDR - taken mainly because I wanted to see if I could catch and keep the rainbow with the technique. The last was the final in a sunset series. The formation on the right lit up like it was on fire. Unbelievable color.

Fantastic captures of extraordinary scenery! The colour/lighting in that last one looks surreal. Thanks for sharing.

The very special light on the last picture and in the second part (my favorite) of your trilogy must have been your reward for getting soaked. I'm always drawn in by landscapes with clouds just breaking up and creating spot lights. They're capturing the feeling of being able to take off your rain gear with the sun warming your moist back for a moment. Imagine how boring clear blue skies would have been instead!

It felt surreal too. The rock formation just kept getting brighter and brighter like a candle.

You are so right about stormy skies.

Thanks. I kept waiting for the light to hit the mitten but, as you can see in the third and fourth shot, it never happened.

Beautiful shots, Susan. Hard to choose a favorite. Maybe the last one?

I wouldn't try to pick a favourite: they are all so good. Excellent work.
