Beartooth Highway · **1 Like**

Drove the highway on a kind of blow me away day. The fog was so bad when we started with zero visibility that we came close to turning around. Little by little it lifted and by the time we got to the top, around 12000 ft. it cleared up. The wildflowers were the best I have ever seen. The blues were especially brilliant.

The bear's tooth can be seen in the third shot, upper left.

Very nice pictures, especially the colour and contrast. Did you get off the road and hike in a bit? It's been 20 years since I drove that highway, but I looked at my slides from that trip and I didn't come close to capturing the wild, mountain beauty of the area like you did.

No hiking this time. Some short walks but that altitude just wiped me out. This is the second time we have driven the beartooth and both times the weather was wonderfully bad. You know, dark, stormy clouds that brings out all those wonderful colors.

Thanks for sharing Susan. If I have the right road, we had intended to drive this some 13 years ago, from the NE exit of Yellowstone but it was closed due to a landslide, we came down the Chief ? Joseph ? highway instead to Cody.
So very interested to see these.

The Chief Joseph is gorgeous also. We took the Beartooth and then went back to Cody via the Chief Joseph.
