the wrong side of the tracks

A bit of a walk-around this afternoon while my wife was getting her hair done in Bearden (one of the tonier suburbs of Knoxville)--still a bit of scruffiness 'monst all the ladies-who-lunch and SUVs, though.

I like the vines taking over the window, something intriguing about it.

The first one is a winner. Another intriguing series of Knoxville's seedy side. I bet the chamber of commerce loves you.

Ha, thanks for the comments, guys...ironically, the dilapidated building looks to be an old florist shop. FWIW, Knoxville has a long history of being the scruffy in-law to bigger, more glamorous cities (think Nashville or Asheville) but it can be a lot more charming than I make it look most of the time.

Thanks Vincent--hope to see more from Indiana/Kentucky from you in the new year...I'd never kicked around in that part of the world until this past summer...really a different vibe than what I'm used to.

A sad reflection of better days, who knows maybe the good times will roll again some day in the future... as many cities seem to have huge regeneration programmes on the go.

Cool imagery nevertheless.

Ha, it's not quite as bad as all that..."selection bias," you know. Tell you what, come spring I'll take a little stroll with my K135/2.5 out on the quad here at Land Grant U--bikini season starts in maybe six weeks--and everything will seem right as rain...

Ah, Kerrowdown me lad, rest assured that each Spring it's a virtual nubile Serengeti; the very air itself a perfumed maelstrom of Lycra and regret... Can't promise I'll hit "critical focus" with the MF lens, though.

May I suggest and intensive course of practice starting right now...

As I don't want any lame excuses, please adopt the seven p principle and apply it.

Ha, better yet you should visit us here in the States since "street 'tog" is more your portfolio. Dr Jekyl would be happy to dispute at length on the various ecotones and microclimates of the Smoky Moutains (a World Heritage Site), while Mr Hyde knows the Yogalates schedule by heart. (Bring your own Wimberley window mount, though...)
